Yes, that's us in the photo above, enjoying pastries, and I was still undergoing chemo at the time.
We know what people usually say: cancer loves sugar, and we were strict about following an anti-inflammatory diet during my cancer journey.
But every once in a while, life needs a little sweetness, along with plenty of strawberries. A mindful treat? Absolutely. Regrets? Zero.
I reached full remission in September 2023. As of October 2026, by God’s grace, I have been in complete remission for over 3 years (3 years and 1 month), feeling strong, healthy, and cancer-free.
Now that we have addressed the elephant in the café, let us share our story with you.
But First, A Little Bit About Us
Starting with me, Irwin.
I am an Iban from Sarikei, Sarawak, running my conversion and digital agency at ArtisanFunnels.com. Since 2016, I have built 40+ conversion funnels with over $27M in tracked client revenue and $1.8M in ad spend managed. That work generates our household livelihood and allows me, together with my wife Dr. Jean, to dedicate our time and resources to this cancer support platform freely.
Before cancer, my lifestyle was far from healthy. I had a serious love for sugary drinks, downing three to four cups of teh tarik, cham, or sweet canned drinks every single day. When it came to food, I rarely let anything go to waste. My friends nicknamed me “DBKL” (referencing the city street cleaners) because I happily finished everyone’s leftovers, usually asking: “Are you still eating that?”
Looking back, my diet placed constant inflammatory stress on my body. When I was diagnosed with lymphoma, it served as a profound wake-up call to completely transform how I live and eat.
Before cancer, I was not religious, though spiritual in nature. Going through this battle led me to embrace the Catholic faith. If you want to know what happened, read my April 2023 entry in the timeline below.
And I'm Dr Jean.
Just call me Jean.
I was born in Sandakan, Sabah, to a Filipino-Malaysian family. I completed my medical degree at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, graduating in 2018 with a deep desire to help people heal.
During my housemanship, the relentless hours, sleepless shifts, and severe physical exhaustion took an unsustainable toll on my health and well-being. Walking away from the public hospital system was a difficult choice, leading me into health technology and startup roles.
Life seemed settled, until Irwin was diagnosed with cancer. That crisis brought me straight back to medicine with a much deeper, personal calling: to fight for the person I love and help others navigate their diagnosis with clarity and hope.
Also here are some of my graduation pictures😊😊
A glimpse into my medical school graduation. My medical degree gave me the clinical grounding to evaluate cancer research, understand conventional protocols, and bridge scientific rigor with compassionate, holistic care.
Our Journey fighting cancer
Diagnosed with Cancer

I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. One thing led to another, and I was immediately recommended to do chemotherapy for a total of 6 cycles. (I was actually offered to do high-dose chemo but I declined) So I proceed to do the chemotherapy.
July 2022My First Chemo Journey
During the 6 cycle chemo journey, I lost all my hair, and the battle was brutal. I lost my appetite.
My brain becomes foggy. Some days everything I eat tastes metallic. I feel very weak on most days, lying on my bed, unable to do any physical activities except for walking.
I vomited frequently, especially the first few days of each chemo session. The worst is getting infected (twice) and I had to undergo painful surgeries to remove the abscess and clean the infection area.
It’s bad, I really wish I would just die at the time.
July - Nov 2022Remission, but...
Anyway, I made a full recovery as my December PET scan shows that my cancer is no longer active.
I thought the fight was over and life would resume normally again.
But NO.
4 months later, I felt an abnormal pressure inside my head and after a biopsy, it was the same lymphoma cancer. It has spread to the size of a golf ball behind my eyeball.
Dec 2022Chemo Again.
Again, I was devastated. So long story short, I was started on another round of chemo (Salvage Chemo). Again, I get all the unpleasant side effects.
To make matters worse, after 3 cycles of chemo, I got infected with covid and that experience was a deadly one for me. I could’ve passed away if Jean didn’t get me admitted into the hospital in time. I was put in an isolation room with 24/7 oxygen support. Again, not a pleasant experience even in the room. I really wished I would just die, so that I would no longer suffer.
But God has another plan for me. In fact, I experienced a very spiritual encounter while I was on my bed in the isolation room. It was a powerful one. I feel the assurance from God that all is going to be well. (You can read more about the experience in my blog post here.)
April 2023Continued with chemo, but didn't work.
So long story short, after 2 weeks in the isolation room, I made a full recovery from covid, and continued another 2 cycles of chemo.
However, I did another PET Scan shortly after that in June 2023, and it shows that my cancer spread even further, to my organs and even into my bones. It was bad, Stage 4 cancer bad.
It was very devastating. To have all those chemo cycles again and suffer so much for them to not work at all.
June 2023Hope comes in unexpected place.
Even in deep darkness and fear, hope arrived from unexpected places.
Through fellow cancer survivors, I was connected to knowledgeable practitioners: a pharmacist and nutritionist (Mr. Looi) who guided my diet, and Guru Amma, who introduced me to traditional Siddha herbs like Pshapadu.

At the same time, I continued modern oncology care at the hospital, receiving two cycles of pembrolizumab (Keytruda), an immunotherapy drug. I brought all of these approaches together: conventional immunotherapy, targeted herbs, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and deep spiritual prayer.
July 2023Achieved remission, finally.
Two months after starting this combined approach, I went for a follow-up PET scan in September 2023.
The scan showed zero active cancer: complete metabolic remission!
Jean and I were in tears of gratitude. To guard against recurrence, we continued supporting my body with whole-food nutrition, herbs, and healthy daily habits.
Sep 2023No cancer detected. Thank God.
Six months later in March 2024, my follow-up PET scan confirmed the result: no cancer detected.
Having completed my medical treatments, I transitioned into a sustained healthy routine, continuing our anti-cancer nutrition, regular movement, and natural wellness practices under regular monitoring.
March 2024Over 3 Years in Full Remission
As of October 2026, I have officially reached over 3 years in complete, sustained remission since September 2023 (3 years and 1 month). Today, I live a full, energetic life: my strength and stamina have completely returned, I work out regularly at the gym, and my follow-up scans continue to show clear health.

Jean and I maintain a whole-food diet rich in anti-inflammatory nutrients, balanced with normal life. Most importantly, we dedicate our lives to helping other cancer fighters and families navigate their journey with practical knowledge, hope, and prayer.

If you or a loved one are walking through this battle, remember that you are not alone. Please reach out to us anytime. May God bless you with healing, peace, and strength.
October 2026Our Lifelong Mission
For as long as we are still breathing, we will dedicate our lives to help more people win the fight against cancer.
We believe this journey was part of God’s plan for us: to use our lived experience, medical understanding, and faith to support others. We believe in helping every person holistically, whether you are in chemotherapy, exploring complementary nutrition, or seeking encouragement. We share our research, daily habits, and prayer support openly so that no one has to walk this road alone.
We are deeply thankful for this second chance at life. If you are facing cancer right now, hold onto hope, have faith, and reach out to us. May God bless you and your family with health, peace, and healing. Amen 🙏
